After playing for the New York Patriots for nine seasons, he signed a four-year extension deal worth a mouthwatering $72 million. The contract made him the highest paid player in the NFL and he was guaranteed $49 million upfront after signing the contract. This was in 2010.

Brady led the Patriots to another Super Bowl final in 2011 where they met the Giants which was a rematch of the 2007 season. The Patriots lost making it the second Super Bowl final loss for Tom Brady.

In 2015, Tom Brady was given a four-match suspension after investigations were done on suspicion that Patriots employees were deflating balls intentionally. Tom appealed the ban but the NFL commission upheld the ban citing that there was credible evidence he was involved.

However, a judge, Richard M Berman, of the District Court for the Southern District of New York overruled the NFL’s ruling on the grounds that Brady was unjustly suspended. This allowed Brady to play in the 2015 season.

The ball tempering case was later taken to the court of appeal by the NFL Commission in 2016 to overturn the Richard Berman ruling. The court ruled in favor of the commission and the ruling was that Brady was to serve the four-match ban in the coming season.

Brady signed a two-season extension in 2016 which would run up to the 2019 season. According to certain reports, its believed that Brady pocketed $41 million from that deal with the New England Patriots.

Tom couldn’t play the first four games of the 2016 season since he was serving the 4 game ban suspension handed because of the ball tempering case. Even with this setback, the Patriots won the Super Bowl after extra time (the first ever in NFL history) defeating the Atlanta Falcons. This was Tom Brady’s fifth Super Bowl title win and his fourth MVP award.

In the 2017 season, Tom and the Patriots won an 8th conference title (AFC Championship) but lost the Super Bowl. Losing the Super Bowl in 2017 was only the third time he lost in his last eight finals.

Brady became the oldest quarterback to win his sixth Super Bowl at the age of 41 after the Patriots won against the Los Angeles Rams at extra time. The Patriots also become joint six-time winners of the Super Bowl with the Pittsburg Steelers.

Tom was now approaching the end of his contract with the Patriots in 2019. The Patriots offered him a 2-year contract extension worth $70 million in August 2019 to run through 2021. After signing the contract, he became the highest earner taking home $21.5 million a season.
