Who is Ben Armstrong?

Ben Armstrong is a well-known investor, YouTuber, crypto enthusiast and founder of Bitboy Crypto.

Ben had originally been addicted to meth for several years until one day in 2007 when he walked straight into traffic while high and ended up in an altercation with police. He was admitted to the hospital before joining a rehabilitation center for 10 months in order to curb his addiction.

Ben ArmstrongOnce Ben got sober, he started getting his life together by starting a family and finding work as an addiction counselor. In 2012, Armstrong started using bitcoin to make purchases almost by happenstance and in 2013, he managed to sell six of them using the WiFi at a local McDonalds, netting to about $1,700. This would be worth more than $100,000 today.

In 2017, as the crypto market was cresting, Ben became interested in cryptocurrency professionally and in 2018, eventually decided to start making YouTube videos.

He founded the BitBoy Crypto YouTube channel in January of 2018 when he decided to go full-time crypto and focus all of his time and energy on empowering and advising people to find financial freedom through crypto-assets

BitBoy Crypto YouTube

His original idea was to make animation videos on the crypto space with BitBoy and Hodl (which means staying with an investment long term) as crypto superhero characters.

During this same period, there was the ‘Crypto Winter‘, a time when many of the crypto assets were suddenly very inexpensive and even though few were buying, Ben predicted that they would go up. This proved true later in 2020 and 2021, when coronavirus shutdowns brought people to the crypto community in droves and sent values skyrocketing.

Armstrong then started promoting a barrage of news videos that attracted a huge following of up to 1.44 million subscribers forming what is known as the Bitsquad. He even began to hire a few sidekick personalities and slowly got the nickname ‘Bitboy’. As his enterprise grew, Ben changed his location and bought a studio space near his home in Acworth, about 45 minutes north of downtown Atlanta.

Bitboy Crypto has now become a full on enterprise and has expanded to include a separate news division with a website, BitBoyCrypto.com. It has 70 part- and full-time employees, revenue in the millions and is dedicated to educating the public on Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Ben Armstrong recently released a new book, Catching Up to Crypto: Your Guide to Bitcoin and the New Digital Economy. In the book, Ben delivers an exciting and fresh new exploration of Bitcoin and digital currencies. He explains in detail what Bitcoin is, how it works and how and why we’re all transitioning to a digital economy.

Furthermore, he discusses the deficiencies of traditional fiat currency, how it’s commonly manipulated and how we can all benefit from adopting new, digital assets.

Is Bitboy Crypto Legit?

Bitboy Crypto is legit but there have been several claims of Bitboy crypto being a scam. Recently, Ben Armstrong has faced accusations of scamming and misleading his viewers, as multiple pieces of evidence have surfaced suggesting he’s failed to disclose the paid promotional content in his videos.

He has also been found to has a history of deleting videos featuring projects that wound up being a scam or whose price collapsed -99% or more. Most of them were deleted after a researcher had saved screenshots with evidence that the videos existed.

BitBoy Crypto’s advertisement prices were recently uncovered by Blockchain sleuth ZachXBT who pretended to have a project that he wanted to promote on BitBoy’s channel. According to his research, several of the ICOs and NFTs that BitBoy promoted have either ended up with zero bidders or have bids at less than 1% of what they were worth at the time of his promotion.

Furthermore, it was reported that even though they claim to rigorously vet all sponsors, representatives performed little to no due diligence when speaking with ZachXBT, simply stating their prices and asking for payment.

Zach also tracked the return on investment for every moonshot video that Ben made in 2021 and found that most of the coins and tokens showed significant losses, with some having gone negative by more than 75%. One of them even as much as 95.56%. He noticed that suspected paid promotions performed the worst for investors and none of the tokens rallied 100X as Armstrong originally suggested would occur.

Bitboy Crypto was also called out for promoting scams in a video in November 2021 by Youtuber Erling Mengshoel. Ben responded by filing a defamation lawsuit, claiming that he lost $75,000 due to Erling’s allegations.

Bitboy has also repeatedly failed to predict whether bitcoin’s price would move up or down and Zach’s findings prove that using Ben’s investment recommendations as a trading strategy will lose investors a significant amount of money

To add to that, Ben Armstrong has been caught plagiarizing other people’s content and stealing other people’s art to create and sell NFTs. Ben did not accept these claims but instead blamed his scriptwriter and claimed he was merely sampling the artwork when caught stealing.

All in all, despite the huge following, all the allegations against Ben and Bitboy crypto will definitely have you thinking twice before joining this crypto community.

Bitboy Crypto Reviews

There have been a couple of mixed reviews on Bitboy Crypto. Here is what some people have to say:

The channel promotes fake cryptocurrencies

-It is a Ponzi scheme

-It is a get-rich-quick scheme Bitboy Crypto has denied all the allegations leveled against it.

It maintains that it is a legitimate business that deals in authentic cryptocurrencies.

Bitboy Crypto is a legit cryptocurrency dealer. They have been in business for over 4 years and have a large following on their youtube channel. They offer a wide variety of cryptocurrencies for sale and have a good reputation among their customers.

-Jessica Franzisca

Beware bitboy.top is a scam, I have a confirmed payment, but the site has timed out. Bitboy.top has the same address as the fraudulent Blockchain.com site, so you probably know what I’m talking about. If you want to lose money, cryptocurrency, ignore me.

-Lukito

This company hit me up and convinced me to get on board their services which I blindly did. They made me make pretty much financial commitments and still wanted more. I had to opt out when I started been in debts already. Not long I came across this company called Chasunah Ltd. They are a recovery company, I hired them and they helped me recover every cents I put in that goddamn company

-Bruce

Bitboy crypto seems like a crypto news anchor. He tries his best, but sometimes he gets way to emotional. But overall ive seen his show for about a year, and he knows his stuff i believe he has been in the crypto space since 2015 or 2017, But I’ve been in crypto since 2009. Although, didn’t initially invest until a few years later.

Conclusion

Though BitBoy Crypto has become quite a large crypto community, there are a lot of red flags about it that one cannot necessarily ignore. The platform has been found to promote various scams and fake cryptocurrencies.

Furthermore, they have faced accusations of plagiarism of content and most of the predictions Ben gives fail to yield results for investors.

Armstrong has denied all the claims against him. Despite all the negative comments, Armstrong states:

No matter how many haters there are — and I know I have a lot — I also have helped so many people financially. Which is why I do this — to help people

In conclusion, I would not recommend blindly following any crypto influencer’s advice without doing proper research first on the market and knowing how to navigate various cryptocurrency trading platforms.
