What is InboxDollars?

InboxDollars is a long-established website and/or application that pays you for completing a variety of online tasks, such as taking surveys, watching videos, reading promotional emails, playing games etc.

This way of making money online is known as “GetPaidTo” and was founded in 2000 by Daren Cotter.

Inboxdollars

You can use it on your laptop or download it as an app on your phone. This means that you can do it while walking or even standing in line at a store. You receive cash rewards for doing paid online surveys.

There are other survey-based programs like Survey Voices and Survey Junkie that have a similar model.

It also offers a free $5 sign up bonus for new users and is only available in the United States.

Who founded Inboxdollars?

Inboxdollars was founded by Daren Cotter in 2000. Daren was a college student when he created the company from in his dorm room. The company was then bought by Prodege in 2019 and is based in Minnesota with offices just outside St Paul.

Darren Cotter is the CEO of Inboxdollars.

Darren Cotter

Prodege LLC, the parent company of InboxDollars, owns several similar sites, including Swagbucks, MyPoints, and ShopAtHome. If you’ve ever used any of these sites, you’ll probably notice some overlap with InboxDollars. However, InboxDollars offers a few unique features, like Scratch and Win cards and WinIt codes, which we’ll talk about more later on.

What does InboxDollars offer?

As I mentioned earlier, Inboxdollars is a site that pays users to do various online tasks such as:

  • Reading Paid Emails
  • Taking surveys
  • Shopping online
  • Watching videos
  • Playing games
  • Participating in scratch-offs
  • Trying offers
  • Using inboxdollars search engine.

Unlike some other sites, it offers cash rewards instead of points every time you do these online activities.

You’ll be asked questions like, What’s your birthday? Do you have any medical conditions? just to mention a few. They use this information to help match you to surveys.

The good thing is that you can choose the “I prefer not to answer” option if you are not comfortable sharing your information.

After completing the initial profile survey, you can choose to “Take Another Survey.” There is also a “MyList” menu comprising tasks to complete and earn an additional $0.50.

How you make money on InboxDollars

There are many online activities from which you can earn from. These are:

Taking surveys

Once you complete your profile, you are eligible to take and complete surveys.

Surveys pay anywhere from $0.01 to $5 and take five to twenty minutes to complete. You’ll see about 10 surveys listed in your account at once.

Surveys on inboxdollars

InboxDollars recommends the one they think is the best fit for you, but you can take them in any order you like.

The surveys themselves are well put together, and the topics are pretty interesting.

Time taken to complete the surveys doesn’t necessarily correlate to earnings. You may have several surveys in your account that pay $0.25, but they take anywhere from 6 to 15-minutes to complete.

Sometimes surveys for which you aren’t qualified for turn up on your page. Survey providers are looking for a specific demographic so you might be disqualified for some of them.

There is the option to spin “Billy’s Wheel” for a chance to win a cash prize or progress towards a Scratch & Win.

Be on the lookout for any “test” questions. Most survey sites throw these in to make sure you’re paying attention. If you get them wrong or answer demographic questions differently than you did in your profile questionnaire, your account might get flagged and you’ll stop receiving survey offers.

Watching videos

InboxDollars partners with advertisers to bring you video content. When you watch videos on the site, you receive a portion of those earnings.

InboxDollars videos

InboxDollars’ video categories include news, financial, sports, entertainment, and lifestyle. Each category includes a playlist of videos (typically 6 to 9) that range in length.

The videos will play in a new tab with a countdown timer running for 45 to 75 seconds in a separate tab. As soon as the timer hits zero, you can move on to the next video. If you click on the tab with the running timer, it’ll pause.

If you have an ad blocker, make sure it is turned off for this feature otherwise you will not be able to view any videos.

If you are in the habit of multitasking a lot, then watching videos with InboxDollars can be a good way to earn a little extra while doing other things on your laptop or computer.

Unfortunately, InboxDollars will only pay you $0.01 per video (or series of videos) watched, regardless of length.

Play games

InboxDollars has free games like Pet Hop, Candy Jam and Solitaire. They also have cash games such as Wheel of Fortune, Poker and Casino. For these, you make a deposit and compete in cash tournaments for the chance to win more money.

It’s hard to earn real money playing games through InboxDollars because you don’t get cash rewards for playing. Instead, every game you play goes toward your Scratch and Win progress, which allows you to scratch a virtual lottery ticket for random cash rewards.

Playing online games seems to be the fastest way to get Scratch and Win cards. Unfortunately, the time you spend and how you perform on the games does not determine what you earn.

They also offer up to 18% cash back on every dollar spent on premium games, which isn’t so much a way to earn money as it is to play some premium games at a discount.

Shopping online

When you shop online with InboxDollars, they offer cashback from hundreds of stores, including Best Buy, The Home Depot, Groupon, and Kohl’s. The deals vary from store to store, with some offering as low as 1% and others as much as 25% cashback.

Inboxdollars review

You can shop directly through your InboxDollars account by browsing their list of retailers or searching for the name or category.

Like many other cashback sites, Inboxdollars also has a cashback extension you can add to your browser called the Billy Button.

Inboxdollars reviewThe Billy Button lets you know whenever you are shopping on a site that Inboxdollars offers cashbacks or coupons. It also lets you know whenever new surveys or earning opportunities are available.

Printing or Redeeming Coupons

InboxDollars’ coupons are offered by Coupons.com. You can earn $0.01 for every coupon you print (up to 50 credits per day) and another $0.10 for each coupon you redeem.

Inboxdollars reviewWhenever you print a coupon, points should show up in your account within a couple of business days. It may take up to 12 weeks to receive points for redeemed coupons.

The coupons available are for groceries, household, over-the-counter medicines and personal care items like deodorant, shampoo and conditioner. You don’t actually have to print the coupons. You can save them as a PDF and still get the credit. New coupons are uploaded weekly.

Signing up for offers

This requires you to sign up with a third-party app or website.

You’ll be pitched free and premium offers once signed up to InboxDollars, like a cash reward for signing up for a free trial of a product or service, or cash back for spending money at an online store.

Some offers need you to place an order or open a new account and make a deposit, but you can filter for the 100% free options. You can click on each offer to see the requirements.

Cashback from offers can take anywhere from 7 days to a month or longer to show up in your InboxDollars account.

This seems to be the best way to earn money with InboxDollars, but only if you’re smart about it.

Uploading receipts for cashback

InboxDollars offers two different types of receipt uploads for cashback:

  • Magic Receipts
  • Any Receipt

You can choose from a list of deals on InboxDollars, add them to your cart, and buy the items from a participating store.

After that, take a picture of your receipt and upload it to your account for immediate cashback.

Some deals are brand-specific, while others allow you to earn a set amount of cashback for any brand you choose.

You can upload any receipt from over 1,100 different retailers that’s less than 14 days old. You’ll get $0.02 for each receipt you submit.

Most of the Magic Receipt deals require an in-store purchase, but you can submit Any Receipt offers for both in-store and online orders.

Read emails

InboxDollars can send you regular emails, usually promoting some third-party product or service. For each one of these you open, you get paid $0.02.

Inboxdollars review

These emails are from brands based on offers and deals that are relevant to you. For example, if you have a baby, you may receive emails about diapers and formula and if you own a home, you may get deals about handyman services.

These also depend on your profile and interests. Examples of PaidEmail features include Free 7-day trial for a TV & movie streaming service, Sweepstakes announcements, and special introductory rates for wine clubs

Using The Inboxdollars search engine

Using inboxdollars search engine gives you progress towards your next scratch and win ticket just like when you play games. Some days you can earn credit for 4 searches, while other days you could earn rewards for 20 or more.

You can get multiple credits for the same search term by toggling between web, images, videos, and news.

Other ways of making extra cash

Aside from doing the online activities there are other ways of making money on Inboxdollars such as:

Scratch and win cards

As you complete surveys, play games, and participate in other activities on InboxDollars, you’ll earn progress toward a Scratch and Win card.

A Scratch and Win card is a digital lottery ticket with a random reward.

There are three levels of Scratch and Win. Each one has the potential for a maximum $10, $25, or $100 reward.

The more activities you complete (surveys, games, searches, etc.), the higher the level of scratcher you get. According to an InboxDollars blog post, most scratchers vary between a couple of cents and $0.25.

WinIt codes

InboxDollars might post WinIt codes on their Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts.

Each code offers a different reward. Some are worth a few cents, and others give you sweepstakes entries or progress toward your next Scratch and Win card.

The WinIt codes expire at 11:59pm the day they’re posted, so you have to check in with their social media accounts on a regular basis to get them.

WinIt codes are basically a way for InboxDollars to increase engagement on social media.

Bonus streaks and referrals

InboxDollars usually sets for you a daily goal based on your previous earnings history. Whenever you meet your daily earnings goal or complete your daily to-do list, you are rewarded with a $0.03 to $0.10 bonus.

Completing your daily goals or daily to do list several days in a row makes a streak. With streaks, you receive even bigger bonuses.

For the referrals, you’ll receive a $1 cash bonus for the first 5 people you refer to InboxDollars, plus 30% of their lifetime earnings.

To qualify for the bonus, your referrals have to earn at least $7. Once they reach the $7 minimum, you’ll receive your bonus credit within 24 hours.

After the 5th referral, you’ll still get 30% of your new referrals’ earnings, but no $1 bonus.

How does InboxDollars pay?

To request payment on Inboxdollars, Redeem and then select ‘Request Payment’. Make sure to check and update your name, and full mailing address on your active account to ensure your payment is processed.

The mailing address is required per the terms & conditions regarding valid member account information on the account.

Select the payment option you prefer: Gift Cards, PayPal or Visa!

Available gift cards include Amazon, Foot Locker, GameStop, Starbucks, Target, Uber and Whole Foods.

Checks were discontinued as a payment method on August 17, 2021.

One of the disadvantages of Inboxdollars is the high minimum payout threshold. You can’t request your first payment until you earn $15. All additional payment requests, however, can be made once you have at least a $10 rewards balance.

Note that you will be charged a fee when you cash out. Inboxdollars charges a $3.00 processing fee per payment request but $3.00 is then deposited back into your account to get you started on your next payment request.

Some users are offered a fee waiver promotion when they cash out:

InboxDollars Gold Membership

InboxDollars automatically makes you a “Gold Member” after you receive your first payment, This is once you’ve earned $30 or more and successfully cashed out.

The upsides of the gold membership include: Faster payment processing (3-9 days instead of 10-16 days), Double sweepstakes offers, Exclusive monthly offers, and Double search rewards.

How to make more money on Inboxdollars

There are ways you can use to increase the amount you make from InboxDollars. They include:

Focus on offers

You’ll earn only about $0.50 per hour answering surveys on InboxDollars.

But you can earn free cash by signing up for select offers on the site.

For example, you might see an offer to sign up for a free 1-month trial of XYZ service. Click it, complete the signup process – which usually requires you to enter your credit card information – and InboxDollars subsequently awards you a few dollars for your efforts.

Be very selective and set reminders to cancel any free trials for products/services you don’t want to pay for.

Avoid any offers that ask for your phone number, otherwise you’ll find yourself avoiding calls from telephone marketing companies.

Avoid using your real email address

It’s best to use a temporary email address when signing up for offers, so your regular email inbox doesn’t get cluttered.

Use a different version of your email address when signing up for any offers via InboxDollars.

Furthermore, create a simple filter in Gmail so any emails sent to that particular version of your address skip the inbox and go to a special InboxDollars folder or to your junk mail.

Once that is done, you can let all the emails pile up or process them all at once whenever is convenient for you.

Avoid using “InboxDollars money generator”

InboxDollars money generator is a software that claims to help you earn more money on InboxDollars.

After researching this software, I found that it clearly violates the InboxDollars terms of service, so you should definitely avoid using it.

Even if it does work, InboxDollars will not approve any withdrawal from your account when they find out that you accumulated the funds illegally

Is Inboxdollars Legit?

Inboxdollars is legit because it is accredited on the Better business bureau and has an A+ rating. Its parent company has also been acknowledged by the business bureau.

Reviews of InboxDollars on Trustpilot show a 4.3 out of 5-star rating with over 18,000 reviews.

Inboxdollars also has a 3.9 rating in the Google Play store and a 4.5 rating in the Apple store, with a combined 240,000+ reviews.

It doesn’t fall into the typical make money scams such as Big Money Connection that I’ve previously reviewed negatively.

Inboxdollars Conclusion

Yes, Inboxdollars is a legit site that pays you to do online tasks. However, I would not recommend it if you are looking for a way to earn a lot of money online. There are survey sites that pay better like Swagbucks, which is also owned by Protege.

You may also choose to seek professional financial advice from a licensed financial advisor to teach you where to invest your time and money in.

But if you are just looking to earn a few extra bucks during your free time then Inboxdollars would be a good start.
