Is Ian King’s MaaS Stock Legit?

Welcome to my review of Ian King’s MaaS presentation.

Ian recently did a presentation where he promised to reveal the biggest tech trend of the year. This trend is supposed to be bigger than the artificial intelligence (AI) industry as well as the 5G and cybersecurity industries.

If you would like to learn more about MaaS, you have come to the right place because in this article, I will walk you through the presentation, highlighting the key points Ian raised in his presentation.

Introduction to Ian King’s MaaS

If you watch the presentation, the main theme that comes out of it is that Ian King believes that “MaaS” is the biggest tech trend. Although it is currently valued at $70 billion, Ian sees it becoming a $1.8 trillion industry by 2028.

So, what is MaaS?

It is an acronym for “Mobility-as-a-Service.”

Ian King's MaaS

What this means is that there will be a transportation system that will be modeled as a service, much like Software-as-a-Service. In this model, people will be driven around in self-driving cars that they will order via an app.

The technical term for it is robotaxi, which by definition is a ridesharing service that uses autonomous cars.

The concept has been mentioned before by other investment analysts, including Whitney Tilson (in his TaaS or Transportation-as-a-Service pitch) and Jeff Brown (in a pitch about Elon Musk’s SAV).

Ian expects MaaS technology to be bigger than AI, 5G, and cybersecurity combined. This, he explains, is why big companies have already started investing in it, including names like General Motors, Amazon, and Google.

Rather than invest in these companies I just listed, Ian wants you to go for lesser-known companies that have the potential to earn bigger returns.

Who is Ian King?

Ian King is an investment analyst who works for Banyan Hill Publishing where he edits newsletters. He is a professional trader with over two decades of experience analyzing the financial markets.

Most of what he does is identifying new tech trends, such as MaaS technology, and finding relatively unknown companies involved to invest in. He has done presentations before touting other tech trends. For example, he did a presentation about 5G called Fluorescent Sand and another about cryptocurrencies called Next Wave Crypto Fortunes.

Before he started editing newsletters, he was working for a hedge fund that made a profit during the Global Financial Crisis. He has also worked for Salomon Brothers and is one of the leading crypto experts at Investopedia (where he played a major role in creating a course on the same).

He has made appearances on Fox Business News and been featured by Zero Hedge, Seeking Alpha, and Investopedia, just to mention a few.

How Does Ian King want us to invest in MaaS?

As I mentioned earlier, Ian King is more interested in the smaller companies than the big ones. In this case, he has his eye on a company that makes LiDAR technology.

LiDAR is a way of measuring distances by emitting laser light and measuring the time it takes for the light to reflect back. It works just like good old RADAR only this time instead of sound waves, it uses laser waves and light sensors. It is used by autonomous cars to map the area surrounding the car to avoid obstacles and react to the introduction of new obstacles.

The company Ian has identified has 55 patents of the LiDAR technology and has been supplying GM (self-driving cruise model) and Waymo. It has agreements to supply companies like Uber, Volkswagen, and Toyota.

It has $800 million worth of contracts, booked through 2024. As Ian was doing his presentation, it was trading at $30 per share and had a market cap of $3.8 billion.

He has written about it in a report called Mobility as a Service: A $1.8 Trillion Revolution

In this special report, you will find all the details regarding MaaS technology including:

  • Ian King’s research into the company (including its ticker symbol) and how it is way ahead of the competition.
  • How Ian King discovered this company and why it’s going to be one of the most profitable opportunities of his career.
  • King’s strategy for finding hidden opportunities like this.

Is Ian King’s MaaS Legit?

Ian King’s MaaS is a legit presentation.

Ian King is an experienced professional trader who has made a career out of analyzing market trends and finding ways for investors to make money off of them. In this pitch, he has his eye on Mobility-as-a-Service with a focus on LiDAR technology. He is not way over his head about it and he is not selling an idea that you can get rich overnight — he is proposing an investment that may or may not work out.

That said, he makes very bold predictions that can easily get you carried away. Therefore, take his words with a grain of salt.

Ian King’s MaaS Verdict

Mobility-as-a-Service (or Transport-as-a-Service, whatever you want to call it) has been getting a lot of attention not just from car enthusiasts and technologists, but also from investment analysts. What’s common about all of them is that they see it as the future of transportation, albeit for different reasons.

In his presentation, Ian sees investing in a company developing LiDAR technology to be potentially lucrative as we head for a world where robotaxis will be commonplace. The benefit of going for such a company is that you don’t have to wait for the roads to be filled with fleets of fully self-driven cars because the technology is already being right now (in cars that are not fully self-driven).

The downside to it is that the market is saturated and there is a lot of competition and uncertainty. Therefore, if you decide to follow Ian’s advice, do not invest more money than you are prepared to lose.
