Personally, he earns $15 – 20 million per year with a majority of those earnings coming from Jeffree Star Cosmetics.
In 2018, Jeffree earned $18 million from his business ventures, which made him the 5th highest-paid YouTube Star on the planet. Jeffree earned $17 million in 2019, making him the 4th-highest-earning YouTuber. He earned $15 million in 2020, making him the 10th highest-paid YouTube star.

Jeffree Star (formally Jeffrey Lynn Steininger Jr.) was born in Orange County, California in 1985. His father committed suicide when he was six years old, which meant that he was raised by his mother Marra Shubyann Lindstrom Steininger, who was a model.
When Jeffree was a young boy, he would experiment with his mom’s makeup. He started wearing makeup to school in junior high and after graduating from high school he moved to LA to pursue a modeling and a career involving makeup. He was also interested in music. Jeffree Star on MySpace
Soon enough, he started making celebrity connections for his makeup skills. He also grew his following on social media, particularly MySpace. He posted makeup tips and songs and became one of the most followed MySpace account at the time with photo posts getting tens of thousands of comments. Using MySpace like a blog, he shared details of his personal life, while also providing social commentary on “self-image and confidence”.
By 2006, he was the most connected profile personality on MySpace. He was one of the most popular unsigned artists on MySpace because his songs regularly topped MySpace Music’s Independent Artists charts.

Jeffree was always into music from a young age. He released an album called “Beauty Killer” through Popsicle records in September 2009. The album reached number two on the Top Heatseekers chart. It also reached number 122 on the Billboard 200. It was 22 on the US Independent Albums chart at some point and made the top 10 of the US Dance/Electronic Albums.
Since then, Jeffree Star has not released another studio album. He has only released four extended plays, and five music videos. His EP “Cupcakes Taste Like Violence” also made the top 10 on several charts. Over the years, he has worked with popular artists like Kesha and Nicki Minaj and in 2010 signed a record deal with Akon’s Konvict Muzik. He never released the mooted second album. He alleged that he had conflicts with Akon, which made him walk away from the record deal and the music industry as a whole.

Jeffree Star’s career in the fashion industry, unlike his music career, has thrived. He founded Jeffree Star Cosmetics in 2014 with his all the money he had made from his music and makeup career up to that point. He was nearly bankrupt at the time and felt his music career was over when he decided to go all in on the makeup company.
Luckily, he was one of the first makeup personalities to use YouTube to promote his brand and himself. Collaborating with Shane Dawson
YouTuber Shane Dawson interviewed Jeffree and during that exchange, he claimed that his makeup empire had an annual gross revenue north of $100 million. While this wasn’t publicly verifiable information because the company is private, it was apparent from Jeffree’s lifestyle. He had a massive house and car collection, which was evidence that the company was clearly doing well.
Jeffree Star also has investments in marijuana and real estate besides the cosmetics business. He owns the shipping and fulfillment center from which his makeup line and other drop shipment companies operate.
Jeffree and Shane collaborated in 2019 to launch a line of eye-shadow and liquid lipsticks. Jeffree claimed in a video shot that year that if the eye-shadow sold out, they would earn $35 million, with $10 million going to Shane. The numbers were even higher with re-orders driving their profits.

Jeffree Star’s Controversies
Jeffree Star was once accused of making racist remarks towards minorities but he later apologized. One of the comments that put him in hot soup came during a satirical skit with a drag queen that was posted on MySpace. In the skit, Star claimed that he wanted to throw battery acid on a black woman to lighten her skin so it will match her foundation.
In 2020, he had to apologize again after images of his former website Lipstick Nazi resurfaced. The website had swastikas alongside photos of Star.
In 2020, a journalist called Kat Tenbarge released a report in which Jeffree Star was implicated in multiple instances of sexual assault, assault, and paying $10,000 in hush money to accusers. He denied all the allegations although documents later emerged showing one of Star’s accusers being paid $45,000 by a Jeffree Star Cosmetics executive.
