Introduction to Three Founders Publishing
Three Founders Publishing is a publishing firm that was established by Doug Hill, Addison Wiggin, and Bill Bonner. If you are unfamiliar with him, Bill is also the man behind Bonner & Partners and Agora Financial.
Three Founders Publishing is based in the historic Mt. Vernon district of downtown Baltimore, Maryland.
The story of how it was started is quite unique:
Bill and Addison bought a bookstore called Laissez Faire Books in 2010, which at the time was the leading arbiter of libertarian economic texts. This was before the popularization of contrarian investment ideas in the industry.
A few months later, they tapped up the third founder member, Doug Hill, whom they later gave the responsibility of running the project.
The three men initially ran Laissez Faire Books, before deciding to create a firm that would be the perfect vehicle for their new ideas, which had outgrown Laissez Faire Books.
They claimed that their new firm would have one aim: to help their followers to attain financial security and freedom.
The firm has since grown and now comprises a team of sought-after experts who have experience and expertise in an assortment of industries, not to mention different approaches to finance and investing.
Three Founders Publishing has more than 300,000 paying readers as well as over 100,000 lifetime members. These readers and lifetime members get honest perspectives and unbiased insights on the markets and economy that they may not find in the mainstream press.

The Three Founders Behind Three Founders Publishing?
Three Founders Publishing was established by Doug Hill, Addison Wiggin and Bill Bonner. They have decades of publishing experience between them. They don’t actively publish newsletters but their influence is tangible in the work that the firm puts out:
Doug Hill
Doug is a founder and publisher of the firm. He monitors all publications to ensure that they promote the ideals of freedom, independence, and self-reliance.
Bill Bonner
Mr. Bonner is a veteran in the publishing business since he played a part in launching not only Three Founders Publishing but also Rogue Economics (affiliated with Brownstone Research) and The Agora.
Bill’s investment style is to always look for developments in the market that are not only difficult to predict but also highly disruptive. They call these “fat-tail events.”
He then seeks to profit from them by making strategic moves in the stock market. It has been his guiding principle throughout his career in the financial services industry.
Bill Bonner has a few books to his name that mostly discuss investments, the markets, and the economy.
Addison Wiggin
Addison Wiggin is the executive publisher of Agora Financial, which is the parent company of Three Founders Publishing. He is also a New York Times bestselling author of books like The Demise of the Dollar, Financial Reckoning Day Fallout, and The New Empire of Debt.
He was the executive producer and co-writer of the documentary called I.O.U.S.A. which was nominated for the Grand Jury prize at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
His work has been recognized by The Economist, The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times, and The Washington Post.
The Experts behind Three Founders Publishing
Three Founders Publishing has grown its lineup steadily over the past few years. It now renowned experts and analysts who share their insights through newsletters and articles. The main editors who work for the company as of writing this are:
James Altucher
James Altucher is a writer, successful entrepreneur, podcaster, ex-hedge fund manager, venture capitalist, and chess master. If you are a regular reader here, you may have stumbled upon my reviews of his presentations like 2 Minute Retirement Rescue and 7 Day Stock Market Glitch through which he discussed short-term investment ideas — most of his publications lean towards that.
George Gilder
George Gilder is an investor, economist, and writer with an uncanny ability to spot technological breakthroughs long before they happen. He has even had books published about those breakthroughs.
A good example is Life After Google where he talks about the advent of cryptocurrencies and blockchain.
During the Dot Com Boom in the late nineties, he was widely regarded as the best stock picker in the world thanks to his wildly successful newsletter, The Gilder Technology Report. He managed to earn impressive triple- and even quadruple-digit gains for readers.
Graham Summers
Graham Summers is well versed in macroeconomic concepts and has more than a decade of experience as an investment strategist.
Other analysts and Contributors
Nicole Labra is the managing editor. She ensures that all of the editorial material has attained the highest standards.
In addition to the main editors, there are daily contributors like Chris Campbell and Shane Ormond and analysts like Bob Byrne, Tim Collins, John Schroeter, and Richard Vigilante.

Pros of Three Founders Publishing
- It offers you actionable advice and investment insights that are objective.
- The editorial team comprises a team of experts.
- You will receive entrepreneurial and lifestyle related advice on top of the recommendations.
- Most of its premium newsletters have a three-month money-back guarantees.
Cons of Three Founders Publishing
- The marketing material put out by the firm as it advertises its services can be a bit misleading sometimes.
Is Three Founders Publishing Legit?
I think that Three Founders Publishing is a legitimate company.
Three Founders Publishing group is an aggregation of investment experts and analysts who dole out financial advice to their readers. Most of them are experts in different fields who have worked for many years in those fields.
Although some of the tips they provide may make you a better investor, not all their advice leads to profits; unfortunately, they don’t do an adequate job of warning you about this. Their emphasis on accomplishments to garner more sales doesn’t sit well with many people and they’ve gotten a lot of criticism for it.
As part of its marketing efforts, Three Founders Publishing has a skilled customer and traffic acquisition team, which has increased its visibility considerably. The firm is an experienced buyer of traffic across native networks and has even partnered with Revcontent, a leading content marketing platform. In addition to purchasing Revcontent traffic, it is also prominent on Facebook.
It has also received generally good reviews from third parties online, which is a good sign.
Overall, it is a legitimate firm and you will certainly get some value from the advice they publish, just not as “guaranteed” as their marketing campaigns suggest.
Three Founders Publishing Verdict
If you are looking for general investment advice (because they are not legally allowed to provide personalized advice), Three Founders Publishing is one of the few publishers that provide value to their clients. They offer newsletter services that will deliver investment updates straight to your inbox.
However, not all of the advisory services are available for free! In fact, a majority of them are paid subscriptions.
The analysts who work for Three Founders Publishing provide readers with a view of the markets and the economy that mainstream press doesn’t provide. They argue that mainstream publishers and news sites report on things that has already happened whereas they look into the future to see what’s coming and how to prepare for it accordingly.
They believe that this kind of forward-thinking enables their readers to have profitable viewpoints and investment ideas that they’d otherwise not have.
Ultimately, Three Founders Publishing has a reputation of being a leading independent publisher of technology and financial research.
